PEARLAND — The Dawson Lady Eagles opened up the 2014 track season with a strong showing by scoring 115 points to finish second behind Clear Brook who won the meet with 123 points. The two teams clearly ran away with the track meet as Eisenhower finished a distant third with 48 points following by Langham Creek (47), Klein Forest (40), Cy-Woods (40), Hastings (40), Cy-Ridge (34), Elsik (33), Nimitz (28), Houston Sterling (19), Deer Park (11), Jersey Village (8), Montgomery (8), FB Travis (8), Westside (4), Alief Taylor (4), Spring Woods (2) while Scarborough, Humble, Alvin, Cy-Fair, and Northbrook failed to score a point to complete the 23-team meet.
Leading the way was Abie Harrelson who scored a team high 23-points as she won the 3200 meters (11:44), placed second in the 1600 meters (5:38), and ran a leg on the winning distance medley relay team.
The distance medley relay quartet of Miranda Thronhill, Paige Kimball, Bethany Taylor, and Harrelson won with a time of 13:07.
The 800-meter relay foursome of Nailah Henderson, Cydney Boudreaux, Theresa Davis, and Erica Davis placed second (1:44.9).
The 1600-meter relay team of Erica Davis, Thornhill, Sarah Kuo, and Kimball placed third in 4:03.7.
The 400-meter relay team was disqualified and didn't get any points which cost them points and possibly the meet title.
Kimball won the 400 meters in 58.79.
Taylor Prier placed second in the triple jump (34'-7.5"), third in the long jump (17'0") and sixth in the 100 high hurdles (16.01).
Tara Sonson placed third in the discus (115'9").
Theresa Davis placed third in the 200 meters (26.35) while Boudreaux placed fourth (26.48).
