PEARLAND — Freshman Abbie Harrelson continues to lead the Dawson Lady Eagles in scoring with outstanding performances in the first two track meets.
Harrelson scored 24 points that included two gold-medal winning efforts in the 1600 meters (5:28) and 3200 meters (12:07). She also ran a leg on the second-place Sprint Medley Relay team which included Emma Hayford, Elizabeth Mitchell, Miranda Thronhill, and Harrelson with a time of 4:23.
Paige Kimball placed second in the 400 meters (58.47) while teammate Erica Davis placed fifth (59.85).
Bethany Taylor placed second in the 1600 meters (5:46) and the 3200 meters (13:09).
Tara Sonson took third place in the shot put (36'9.5").
Jemira Thomlinson placed third in the discus (110'10") while Sonson placed fourth (108'2").
Ijhana Clay tied for fourth place in the high jump. (4'6").
Nia Smith placed fourth in the 300 IH (48.73).
Cydney Boudreaux placed fourth in the 100 meters (13.22).
The 400-meter relay quartet of Anteria Richardson, Boudreaux, Kimble, and Davis took fourth in 48.83.
Elizabeth Mitchell placed sixth in the long jump (15'0").
As a team, Dawson scored 99 points for second place while Hightower won the event with 198 points.
Dekaney finished third with 79 points followed by host Marshall (67), Nimitz (62), and Eisenhower (59). Aldine Davis, Fort Bend Travis, Humble, and KIPP Academy failed to score to round out the 10-team track meet.
