Harrelson leads Lady Eagles to second place finish

PEARLAND — As she has done all track season, freshman distance runner Abbie Harrelson led the Dawson Lady Eagles to a second place finish at the TSU Invitational featuring the largest track meet in the state.

Hightower won the meet with 80 points, while Dawson finished second with 53 points. Harrelson scored 25 of the points including two first place finishes.

Harrelson won the 1600 meters (5:17) and the 3200 meters (11:33) to score 20 points.

The Distance Medley foursome of Bethany Taylor (1200 meters), Briana Alba (400), Miranda Thornhill (800), and Harrelson (1600) picked up 20 team points with their first place finish in 13:03.

The 400 relay quartet of Teresa Davis, Cydney Boudreaux, Paige Kimble, and Erica Davis placed third in the 400 meter relay in 47.60.

Dawson picked up one more point when Gia Petties placed sixth in the high jump (5'2").

Finishing behind Hightower and Dawson was Lancaster (48), Westlake, Georgia, (45), Houston Lamar (43), Gregory Portland (37), Hou Cy Christian (30), North Shore (29), FB Elkins (28), Clear Springs (27), and FB Bush (27) to round out the top 10. Over 40 schools participated in the meet.
