Lady Eagles move atop district standings

PEARLAND — The Dawson Lady Eagles knocked off previously unbeaten Santa Fe 6-4 while the Lady Indians dropped another league contest to fall to 8-2 while Dawson romped past Galena Park 11-1 and Texas City 4-3 to grab the top spot in the district standings.
In the win over Santa Fe, Rose Sullivan belted a 3-run homer and Amber Langston had a two-run double. Rylee Rodriquez also contributed a run-scoring single. Dawson scored four runs in the first inning and two more in the third to post the 6-4 victory.
Dawson pitcher Megan Stone allowed eight hits and four runs to pick up the win.

Megan Stone got the win over Galena Park after allowing only two hits while adding a two-run homer to support her own cause.
The Lady Eagles pounded out 15 hits while scoring three runs in the first, two runs in the second, three more in the third, and three more in the fifth to post the lopsided win.
Jillian Guse was 4-for-4 with three runs scored. Rylee Rodriguez was 3-for-4 with one run scored and three RBIs. Rose Sullivan was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Amber Langston was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI. Briana Rivera had a run-scoring double.
Dawson 4 - Texas City 3
Dawson needed a big win over Texas City to maintain their first-place position in front of second-place Santa Fe.
The Lady Eagles fell behind early as the Lady Stingarees scored in the top of the third for a 1-0 lead.
But Dawson tied up the game in the bottom of the fifth when Ashley Langston got a run-scoring single to tie up the game at 1-1.
The Lady Eagles took the lead for good with three runs in the sixth for a 4-1 advantage.
Rose Sullivan and Niki Turner each smashed run-scoring doubles to lead the offensive charge.
Texas City made a valiant effort in their last at-bats, but Dawson was able to put out the two-run rally to hang on for the 4-3 win.
Meagan Stone picked up the win for Dawson.
