Lady Eagles capture 23-6A track title


PEARLAND DAWSON — The Dawson Lady Eagles have had a strong history of success in district and the 2019 girls continued that legacy by winning the District 23-6A title with 192 points as a teams. George Ranch finished second with 149 points followed by Alief Elsik (103), Pearland (61), Alief Taylor (48), Alief Hastings (30), and Brazoswood (27).

Dawson had several winners at the district meet that allowed the Lady Eagles to capture the league crown.

London Powell won the 800 meters (2:18.87) and fished third in the 400 meters (57.93)

Darby Gauntt won the 1600 meters (5:13.32) and the 3200 meters (11:40.72).

Amari Ferguson won the 300 meter hurdles (44.28) and placed second in the 100 meter hurdles (14.83).

Crystal Herpin won the shot put (44-05) and the discus (139-02).

Shelby Wagner won the long jump (17-03.50).

The 4x100 relay quartet of Ferguson, Courtney Young, Wagner, and Kamari Houston placed third in 48.21.34.

The 4x200 relay foursome of Karrington Knox, Houston, Nia James, and Sydni Charbonnet placed fifth in 1:46.31.

The 4x400 relay team of Miriam Daren, Powell, Michelle Myer, and Young placed second in 3:55.14.

Young finished second in the long jump (17-02) and triple jump (34-07.50).

Victoria Herpin finished second in the shot put (39-07) and third in the discus (120-08).

Myer finished second in the 800 meters (2:19.54).

Mia Ruffino finished third in the pole vault (9-06).
