Dawson girls win District 22-6A track crown; boys finish second

PEARLAND — The Dawson girls continued their district domination by winning the 22-6A crown with 162 points while Pearland finished second with 127 points and Manvel finished third with 123 points. Pasadena Dobie was fourth with 106 points followed by Pasadena Memorial (37), Alvin (36), South Houston (12), Sam Rayburn (9), and Pasadena (8).

Individual winners for the Lady Eagles included:

Darby Gauntt in the 3200-meters in 11:35.77.

Abbie Harrelson in the 800-meters in 2:18.78 and the 1600-meters in 5:12.82.

Paige Kimble in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.34 and the 300-meter hurdles in 43.26.

Jonsy Chauvot in the pole vault with a height of 11-00.

Taylar Prior in the triple jump with a leap of 36-11.50.

The Dawson boys finished in second place behind defending state and district champion Manvel. The Mavericks won the district title with 199 points while Dawson scored 144 followed by Pearland (80), Pasadena Dobie (73), Alvin (45), Pasadena Memorial (40), South Houston (200, and Pasadena (19).

Individual winners for the Eagles were:

Matthew Murray in the 800-meter run in 1:57.51 and 1600-meter run in 4:27.45.

Mykul Mitchell in the 200-meter dash in 21.44.

Kameron Hypolite in the long jump with a leap of 22-08.
