Lady Eagles close out with district wins

PEARLAND — The Dawson Lady Eagles didn't advance to the post-season this year, but they did close out the regular schedule with two district wins.

Senior pitcher Kaylan Howard pitched three scoreless innings, gave up one hit while striking out five to pick up the 16-0 win over the Pasadena Lady Eagles.

Dawson racked up 18 hits and scored 16 runs to totally dominate the league contest.

The Lady Eagles scored two runs in the top of the first and then erupted for 14 runs in the top of the second inning. The game was called with the mercy-rule after three frames.

Leading the offense was Rylee Rodriguez who was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Sammie Page who was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and one RBI. Amber Langston was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and four RBIs. Baylee Malone was 3-for-3 with one run scored and two RBIs. Amber Stone was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Maddie Richey was 1-for 1 with one run scored. Izzy Richey was 1-for-2 with one run scored. Yamilex Perez was 2-for-3 with one run scored.

Dawson 10 - South Houston 2

Dawson collected nine hits and 10 runs while allowing South Houston to score only two runs to pick up their final district win of the season 10-2.

Senior pitcher Kaylan Howard went the distance to pick up the win after allowing seven hits and two runs while striking out three and walking one.

Dawson scored twice in the bottom of the first, six runs in the second, and two runs in the fourth while South Houston scored one run in the top of the third and fourth innings.

Sammie Page had a double that scored one run while Baylee Malone added another double that scored two more runs.

Rylee Rodriguez was 2-for-3 with one run scored and one RBI.

Dawson had only four seniors on this year's squad. They include: Madeline Richey, Yamilex Perez, Heaven Benavidez, and Kaylan Howard.
