Lady Eagles capture the Purnell Relays

PEARLAND — The Dawson Lady Eagles scored 141 points to capture the team trophy at the Purnell Relays which was hosted by Angleton High School. Pearland placed second with 103.5 points followed by Fort Bend Bush (101), Huntsville (81.5), Manvel (51), Fort Bend Travis (40), Brazoswood (29), Brazosport (22), West Columbia (20), Angleton (17), and Fort Bend Clements (14).

Top scorer for the Lady Eagles was distance runner Abbie Harrelson who continues to lead the way for Dawson. Harrelson was a double-winner as she took the 1600 meters (5:29.9) and the 3200 meters (12:44).

Cydney Boudreaux captured the gold medal in the 100 meters (12.7) while teammates Destini Jenkins placed second in 12.99 and Nailah Henderson was fourth in 13.17.

Nia Smith won the 300 intermediate hurdles in 50.57. Taylar Prier won the long jump with a leap of 18'4.75".

The 400-meter foursome of Jenkins, Boudreaux, Paige Kimble, and Henderson took first place in 47.97.

Taylar Prier placed second in the 100 high hurdles while Smith was fifth (17.88).

The quartet of Henderson, Boudreaux, Anteria Richardson, and Prier placed fourth in the 800-meter relay (1:47.3).

Jemira Thomlinson placed third in the discus (117'1.5").

The 1600-meter relay team of Richardson, Jenkins, Emma Hayford, and Kimble place third in 4:07.9.
