Lady Eagles split district softball games

PEARLAND — Dawson faced the Dobie Lady Longhorns and battled hard only to come up short 3-2 in a District 22-6A contest to even the Lady Eagles league mark at 3-3.

Senior third baseman Rylee Rodriguez showed her power with a solo home run over the left field wall to tie up the game 1-1 in the fourth inning.

Dobie scored a run in the top of the fifth and the sixth innings to take a slim 3-1 lead.

The Lady Eagles got a run scoring single from Baylee Malone that sent Brooke Toler across the plate after she reached base on leadoff single making the score 3-2.

Dawson righthander Hope Schoeneman retired the Dobie hitters sending the game into the bottom of the seventh for a chance to tie or win the game.

Amber Stone opened up the final at bats with a single and advanced to second on a groundout to keep Dawson's hopes alive.

However, Toler struck out and Amber Langston flew out to shallow centerfield to end the game and give the Lady 'Horns the 3-2 win.

Dawson 19 - Pasadena 0

Senior pitcher Hope Schoeneman didn't allow a hit in her four-innings in the pitching circle to get the District 22-6A win and to improve Dawson's league record to 4-3.

Schoeneman threw a no-hitter, striking out 10 batters and walking none while recording her momentous feat.

The rest of the team did their part as they handled Pasadena pitching as eight hitters combined for 21 hits, 15 RBIs and 19 runs scored.

Eleven runs in the first three innings helped the Lady Eagles blow out Pasadena .

A solo home run by Amber Langston and an RBI double by Amanda DeLuna in the first inning, an RBI single by Molly Ellinger, and a three-run home run by Rylee Rodriguez in the second inning helped the Lady Eagles put some runs on the board early.

The Lady Eagles hit three home runs in the win. Additional home runs for the Lady Eagles came when Baylee Malone homered in the fourth inning.

Dawson added five more runs in the top of the third. Langston's single got things going which scored Alexsa Escobar. Rodriguez followed with a single to score Sammie Page.

The Lady Eagles increased their lead with eight runs in the fourth. Page started the scoring by stealing home. Malone followed with a three-run blast, bringing home Ellinger and Schoeneman.
