Dawson beats Episcopal; falls to Alvin

PEARLAND — The Dawson Eagles pulled out a 7-6 non-district win against Bellaire Episcopal.

Both teams scored a run in the first inning for a 1-1 tie. They each added three runs apiece in the third to make the score 4-4.

The Eagles managed to take a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the fifth, but Episcopal managed to tie up the game 5-5 in the top of the sixth.

Dawson added another run in the bottom of the sixth to move back in front 6-5, but Episcopal picked up another run in the top of the seventh to tie up the contest 6-6.

Walker Clayton got a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh that brought Zach Smith home for the winning run 7-6.

Kaden Ingram was 1-for-5 with two runs scored. Jibril Hardy was 1-for-3 with one run scored. Clayton was 2-for-3 with one run scored and two RBIs.

Brett Jackson started the game on the hill, but turned it over to Lucas Timm after 2.2 innings, four hits, four runs, four walks and one strikeout.

Timm closed out the final four innings to get the win. He gave up only two hits and two runs with three strikeouts.

Alvin 6 - Dawson 5

Dawson came out on the short end of a 6-5 score with Alvin in a District 22-6A contest.

The Eagles fell behind 4-0 and 6-2 before battling back against the Yellowjackets to close the gap to 6-5, but Dawson was unable to pull out the win.

Mike Oyervides had three hits including a two-run homer for Dawson while Tristan Perez had two hits. Jaedon Compton was 1-for-1 with one run scored and one RBI. Jacob Rodgers was 2-for-3.

Drake Rainer pitched seven innings for Dawson giving up 10 hits, striking out eight, and walking two.

The loss dropped Dawson to 5-4 in league games.
