Harrelson leads Dawson girls to district title

PEARLAND — The Dawson Lady Eagles won the District 22-6A cross country crown with 49 points while the Pearland Lady Oilers came in a distant second with 96 points. Pasadena Memorial took third with 104 points followed by Manvel (105), Sam Rayburn (112), Alvin (124), Pasadena (125), and South Houston (149).

Leading the way was sophomore Abbie Harrelson who captured first place with a time of 18:18.23. She finished in front of D'Isreal Cordona from Pasadena (18:20.36).

The Dawson girls averaged 20:09.22 which is why they ran so well and won the meet.

Other Dawson runners included freshman Kayla Hamann (9th - 20:09.74), sophomore Amber Stone (12th - 20:37.22), junior Miranda Thornhill (13th - 20:44.04), freshman Molly Ellinger (15th - 20:56.85), sophomore Tahlaya Hardin (19th - 21:08.94), sophomore Mia Simmons (24th - 21:37.03), and senior Katherine Cheng (38th - 22:09.48).

Top finisher for Pearland was freshman Sydney Devereux who came in 4th with a time of 19:22:09. Other Pearland runners included freshman Shelby Devereux (16th - 20:57.08), junior Regan Wilson (20th - 21:09.34), freshman McKenzie Hill (34th -22:02.02), freshman Mikaele Cantu (42nd - 22:32.82), and freshman Marissa Lazano (59th - 24:36.31).
