Bayway Lincoln/Volvo supports Friendswood gridiron players

FRIENDSWOOD — Bayway owner and Friendswood resident Darryl Wischnewski supports his local community and during the 2018 Friendswood football season, a senior player on offense and defense was selected for their outstanding play on the gridiron. Each player selected by the Mustang coaching staff was awarded a $250 scholarship per week totaling $5,000 for the season.

What made the selection so unique was not just for a senior who had an outstanding performance on the field, but there were some seniors who were selected based on what they did during the week of practice to make their teammates better even if they didn't participate in the game or made a brief appearance in a particular game.

The scholarship money will be awarded when the player selected shows proof he is enrolled in a college of his choice so it might help further his education.

"This was very helpful to us to serve as a motivation for our seniors to be awarded whether they were a star player or not," Friendswood head coach Robert Koopmann said. "We were looking for ways for our players to have some added motivation and this was one of the ways that provided some added incentive to our football program. We are very grateful to Mr. Wischnewski and Bayway Lincoln/Volvo for being so supportive."

General Manager Lance Willis, also a Friendswood resident, was also a key in this effort to support the Friendswood Mustang football team. Businesses, such as this, certainly deserve your consideration of supporting them.
