Friendswood swims past Clear Lake

FRIENDSWOOD — The Friendswood Mustangs met the Clear Lake Falcons in a dual meet and won the event as the boys and girls swept the event resulting in a total team win as well.

The Friendswood boys outscored the Clear Lake boys 219 to 88 and the Friendswood girls outscored the Clear Lake girls 172 to 125. The total team score was 391 to 213 in favor of the Mustangs.

The 200-yard medley relay was won by Katie Kosinski, Sydney Gurry, Gina Fossati, and Sadie Wilson with a time of 1:54.56.

Gina Fossati won the 200-yard IM in 2:21.01 for three gold medals on the day.

Sadie Wilson won the 50-yard free in 25.59 and she also won the 100-yard fly in 1:00.31 for four gold medals including two relays.

Audrey Sweeney won the 1-meter diving with 124.60 points.

Katie Kosinski won the 100-yard free in 55.38 and she won the 100-yard backstroke in 1.00.38.

The quartet of Gurry, Fossati, Wilson, and Kosinski won the 200-yard free relay in 1:43.63.

Sydney Gurry picked up her third gold medal with a win in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:11.52.

Winners for the boys included:

The 200-yard medley foursome of James Tomerlin, Nico Monroig, Daniel Theall, and Mark Theall won with a time of 1:40.14.

Nico Monroig won the 200-yard free in 1:50.12.

Mark Theall won the 200-yard IM in 2:06.15 and the 100-yard free in 48.58.

Nick Schumutz won the 100-yard fly in 56.33.

Michael Claunch set a new Friendswood record with his win in the 1-meter diving with 265.35 points.

Sinjin Sharma won the 500-yard free in 5:14.30.

The quartet of Charles Connell, Daniel Theall, Nick Schmutz, and Evan Metcalf won the 200-yard free relay in 1:35.19.

James Tomerlin won three gold medals including a win in the 100-yard backstroke in 55.42.

Daniel Theall won his third gold medal in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:02.55.

The boys swept the relays with a win in the 400-yard free relay with Connell, Monroig, Mark Theall, and Tomerlin being on the winning team with a time of 3:28.50.
