Friendswood splits district games Clear Springs and Clear Creek

FRIENDSWOOD — The Clear Springs Chargers (6-4) saw a 29-26 halftime lead eclipsed in the second half, as the Friendswood Mustangs (4-6) scored an upset in the District 24-6A contest.
Andrew Alston led Friendswood in scoring with 18 points, followed closely by Alex Dehoyos with 16 points.
Brick Fosnight had a game-high 18 points to lead Clear Springs. Warren Richardson added 16 points, and Heip Vu chipped in 12 points for the Chargers.
Clear Springs took the first quarter 15-14 and the second period 14-12.
But the Mustangs upped their game taking the third quarter 14-10 and closed out the Chargers with a flurry 21-18 in the final eight minutes to pull out the 61-57 win.
Clear Creek 58 - Friendswood 52
In a story of two halves, the Mustangs won the first two quarters 13-8 and 17-16 that helped Friendswood take a six-point halftime lead 30-24.
Clear Creek stormed back in the third quarter, as the Wildcats outscored the Mustangs 15-7 to take a 39-37 lead going into the final quarter.
The Wildcats (9-2) closed out Friendswood 19-15 in the fourth quarter to snatch a 58-52 home victory.
Rashadre Wilson led the Wildcats with a game-high 21 points. Nick Shipley tallied 12 points for Clear Creek.
Alex Dehoyos had 16 points and Chance Ayers chipped in with 13 points for Friendswood.
The Mustangs drop to 4-7 in district.
