Same District 11-5A Div I -- different teams present challenge for the Friendswood Mustangs for the next two years.

For the last two years, the Mustangs have been in 11-5A Div I featuring: Angleton, Crosby, Kempner, Kingwood Park, La Porte, Pasadena, and Porter.

The new UIL realignment has the Mustangs in the same district but with a new makeover.

Only a few of last year's teams remain in the district as there are some new faces that will challenge the 'Stangs over the next two years.

They are: Iowa Colony, Angleton, FB Dulles, Katy Freeman, Pasadena, South Houston, Richmond Randle, and Victoria East.

Not only will there be new challenges athletically but there will be some challenges in travel.

"I feel this district is a very competitive one that will result in many tough close football games being played throughout the entire season," said Friendswood head coach Jordan Johnson. "You will see physical football and well-coached teams competing with one another."

Iowa Colony, Angleton, and Richmond Randle look to be the toughest teams the Mustangs will face in 2026. All made deep runs in the playoffs in 2025.

Friendswood will have two non-district games before league competition begins.

"Friendswood will play Texas City for a home opener and will play Clear Brook in Week Two," Johnson said. "The location of the Clear Brook game has not been set at this time.

"In terms of continuing to grow our program and take the next step, there's nothing more you could ask for in the new district we are now in."

Friendswood advanced to the playoffs last season and finished with a 6-5 record. The 'Stangs fell to the Austin Anderson Trojans 35-34 when a two-point attempt to win the game fell short with just seconds to go in the game.
