Friendswood diamondmen trying to get untracked

FRIENDSWOOD — The Friendswood Mustangs have found rough sledding to start the 2016 baseball season.

So far, the Mustangs are 4-6 on the season before District 24-6A action begins.

Friendswood lost their first two games of the year to Fort Bend Clements (7-4) and to Alvin (4-2) in the Pearland First Pitch Tournament.

They turned things around with three straight wins over Santa Fe (5-1), Dawson (8-2), and Episcopal (6-5) and then they dropped four straight in the CCISD Tournament to Pearland (10-0), Atascocita (6-2), Alvin (5-4), and Hebron (6-4).

The 'Stangs took out Nederland 8-1 to close out the CCISD Tournament with a 4-6 overall mark.

Next on the schedule before league action begins is the Brenham Tournament where they will face College Station, Montgomery, Huntsville, C.E. King, and Morton Ranch.

District 24-6A action will begin on Tuesday, March 15 when the Mustangs will travel to face Clear Falls at 1:00 p.m. The Mustangs will host Brazoswood on Friday, March 18 at 6:30 p.m.
