Lockhart, Friendswood shutouts Huntsville 15-0

FRIENDSWOOD — Huntsville fell victim to a strong pitching outing by Lael Lockhart and the Mustangs offense pounded the Hornets for 15 runs.

Lockhart's 13 strikeouts were enough to push the Mustangs as the pitcher past Huntsville gave up just one hit over five shutout innings.

The Mustangs scored eight runs in the fifth on a two-run triple by Connor Whitaker, an RBI single by Lockhart, an RBI single by Kevin Dupuis, an RBI single by Nick King, an RBI single by Jacob Revere, a walk by Nick Dehoyos, and a hit by pitch.

King was solid at the plate as he went 3-for-4 and scored three runs.

Friendswood opened up the game with five runs in the first, one in the third, one in the fourth, and then exploded with eight runs in the fifth.

Dehoyos was 2-for-4 with one run scored and one RBI. Joseph Ehrlich was 1-for-2 with three runs scored and one RBI. Connor Whitaker was 1-for-4 with a triple that scored two runs and he also scored twice. Lockart helped his own cause going 2-for-4 with two RBIs including a double. Jacob Garrett was 1-for-3 with one run scored and one RBI. Dupuis was 1-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI. Jacob Revere was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
