Purdom ties for second place in 108th Texas Amateur golf tourney


FRIENDSWOOD — Friendswood's Brady Purdom tied for second place Sunday in the 108th Texas Amateur golf tournament held at Lakewood Country Club in Dallas.

Purdom, a graduate of Friendswood High School, shot 65-70-71-72 for a 278 total, four shots behind winner Zander Lozano, a 21-year-old from Fair Oaks Ranch.

Purdom was one of three players tied for second. Purdom led the tournament after his seven-under-par first-day total and still held the lead after the second round with a 135 total.

Andre Jacobs, who plays for Clear Springs High School, shot rounds of 75-71-76-68 for a 290 total while his twin brother, Francois, also a member of the Charger golf team, had a 292 total with rounds of 70-71-73-78.
