FRIENDSWOOD — The Friendswood F.A.S.T. swim teams continue to work with swimmers of all ages with many of them experiencing great success at the high school level and beyond.
This summer, the team is 3-1 in competition in the Clear Creek Swimming League and they recently finished fourth in the CCSL championship swim meet.
F.A.S.T. not only competes against other area swim teams, but it also serves as an opportunity for each swimmer to get better and improve their own personal swim times. Several records were also broken this year.
The 15-18 year-old girls foursome of Allison Proulx, Anna McHenry, Olivia Theall, and Allie Hansen broke the 200-yard Medley Relay record set in 2009.
The 9-10 year-old girls quartet of Edi Jakob, Erin Voelker, Kaylee Odom, and Sydney Svahn broke the 200-yard Medley Relay record set in 2013.
Taylor Welch, who is 8-years-old, broke the 25-yard breaststroke mark which was set in 2000.
Friendswood high school standout Olivia Theall has also had a great summer as she broke the 100-yard freestyle record and lowered her own 100-yard backstroke mark. She also broke her own 200-yard Individual Medley record she set two years ago.
Theall was named "Female Athlete of the Meet" at the district meet back in the spring after she won the gold medal in the 100-yard butterfly and she also placed second in the 200-yard IM. Both finishes qualified Theall for the UIL 6A state swim meet in Austin as a sophomore.
