Pasadena Dobie rolls past Friendswood 63-6

FRIENDSWOOD — The Dobie Longhorns improved to 3-0 with their 63-6 win over the Friendswood Mustangs which dropped the 'Stangs to 0-3 for the second straight year.

Dobie used big plays to score often while Friendswood was unable to counter as long drives would stall resulting in no points for the Mustangs.

The Longhorns entered the game with wins over Elkins (55-0) and Bellaire (70-0) while Friendswood was looking for their first win of the 2021 football season.

Unfortunately, Friendswood wasn't able to stop the 'Horns though the Mustangs did score the first points against Dobie as Caleb Corkran scored the only touchdown putting the score at 42-6.

Dobie would add 21 more points to the score in the final quarter.

The Longhorns led 7-0 at the end of the first quarter and 21-0 at intermission before adding 42 more points in the second half.

Friendswood had an 8-minute, 16-play, 52-yard drive in the opening period but ended up turning the ball over on downs at the Longhorn 23-yard line.

While Dobie has outscored their opponents 188-6, their next opponent, the Dickinson Gators, will test the 'Horns on Friday, September 17 at Sam Vitanza Stadium at 7:00 p.m.

Dobie may have shown their ability to run up the score on their three opponents to get a win, but the one thing that has been absent is their sense of sportsmanship and showing integrity of the game which is also part of the life lessons that the coaching staff should be teaching to these young men.

Friendswood will try to regroup on Friday, September 24 when they travel to face Baytown Lee at Stallworth Stadium at 7:00 p.m.

The Mustangs are idle on Friday, September 17.
