The Mustangs beat the Eagles 68-0 for their first district win this season. The Mustangs will host New Caney Porter [3-4, 2-2] on Friday, October 25 at 7:00 p.m.

Facing missing the playoffs this season, the Friendswood Mustangs kept their hopes alive with a 68-0 beatdown of the Pasadena Eagles at Pasadena Veterans Memorial Stadium.

The Mustangs must win their final four games of the regular season to have an outside chance of extending their season in the post-season.

"I'm just really proud of our guys and really proud of our coaches," said Friendswood head coach Jordan Johnson.

This was Friendswood's first District 11-5A-I win of the season and they still have plenty to say in the district playoff race.

Friendswood got on the board at the 7:14 mark of the opening quarter when QB Josh Brister hit WR Jackson Lee for the TD and then with 3:15 in the first period, RB Walker Winters scored on a 13-yard run to make the score 14-0.

The Mustangs continued the scoring barrage with 30 points in the second quarter for a 44-0 lead at intermission.

Friendswood got second quarter touchdowns from Tripp Bateman (17-yard TD), Winters (4-yard TD), Brister to Garrett Muecke (53-yard TD pass), and Winters (1-yard score). The Mustangs also got a safety.

The Mustangs scored on all their possessions in the second half.

In the third quarter, Friendswood scored on a Brister to Lee 11-yard scoring pass, a 35-yard field goal by Ronan Wilson, and a 34-yard scoring strike from Brister to A.J. Parker to make the score 61-0.

The final period saw the Mustangs score one more time on a 99-yard drive sparked by a 56-yard QB keeper by Brister and capped by a 1-yard plunge by Jeffrey Randle to make the final score 58-0.

"I thought our guys did a great job of staying focused, and there was really no letdown in the second half," said Johnson.

Friendswood finished with 589 total yards (333 rushing, 256 passing) and 28 first downs while the Mustang defense allowed only 115 total yards and nine first downs.

Brister was 14-of-17 passing for 256-yards and four TDs and three carries for 64-yards.

Winters had 14 totes for 101-yards and three scores.

Bateman had nine carries for 94-yards and one TD.

Muecke had four catches for 82-yards and one score. Lee had three grabs and 64-yards and two TDs.

"I had hoped that we'd fit things up in the run game and just be really consistent and I felt like we accomplished that," Johnson said. "We wanted to get back to the fundamentals and execute at a high level.

Friendswood is 2-5 overall and 1-3 in district and they need to carry the momentum into Friday's game at home against Porter (3-4, 2-2) on October 25 at 7:00 p.m.
