Beaumont United hands Friendswood another loss

FRIENDSWOOD — The 2020 season, despite all the strange happenings with the COVID-19 virus, presented a positive outcome for Friendswood.

The Mustangs were a pre-season pick to capture the District 5A-9-I title. However, an injury to star quarterback Luke Grden put the Friendswood season in reverse and the 'Stangs are going to have to get some help to even make the post-season.

Beaumont United took advantage of three scores in the first quarter while allowing Friendswood nine points for a 20-9 advantage after the opening frame.

Neither team generated much offense in the next two quarters with the score still 20-9 entering the final 12 minutes of action.

The Timberwolves scored six points while Friendswood added seven points to make the final score 26-16.

Grden returned to action against the Timberwolves and was 9-of-25 passing for 143 yards with one TD and one interception.
