Friendswood ends losing streak with win over Brazoswood

FRIENDSWOOD — Friendswood finally got back on the winning track to snap a five-game losing streak with a 66-54 win over Brazoswood. Three Mustangs scored in double figures, led by Andrew Alston’s 15 points, and Friendswood used a strong first half, outscoring Brazoswood 33-10, to hold off a furious Bucs second half rally to pull out a much needed home win.
Daniel Martinez added 12 points for Friendswood, and Stephen Du tallied 11 points.
The Bucs stayed in the game to take the third quarter 17-16 and then unleashed a come back effort to take the fourth period 27-17, but it wasn't enough to knock off the 'Stangs.
Fiendswood is now 3-6 in District 24-6A and will need to win out if they have any hopes of making the playoffs.
Clear Falls 62 - Friendswood 53
Clear Falls got a much needed district win to kick off the second half of district play while handing the Mustangs their fifth loss in a row.
The Knights outscored the Mustangs 23-14 in the first eight minutes and 12-10 in the second for a 10-point lead 35-25 going into halftime..
Friendswood would not go away as the Mustangs took charge in the third quarter 14-7 to cut the Knights’ lead to just three.
But, Clear Falls won the final quarter 20-14 in its home victory 62-53.
James Hinchcliffe and Alex Dehoyos both had 10 points for the Mustangs.
