Friendswood roundballers clinch playoff berth

FRIENDSWOOD — Even though the Friendswood boys basketball team fell to No. 5 state-ranked Clear Lake (28-2, 12-1), they still secured their place in the 6A Region III playoffs.

Friendswood lost to Clear Lake 53-38, but grabbed the playoff slot due to Clear Springs beating Clear Falls 82-64.

The Falcons led 18-17 after one quarter and 26-24 at halftime. Friendswood was still within striking distance at 35-31 entering the final period before Lake pulled away 18-7 in the final stanza.

Adam Hinchcliffe led Friendswood with 13 points.

This is a great accomplishment by the Friendswood boys in their first year competing in Class 6A especially since Clear Creek (29-2, 13-0) is in the same district and ranked No. 3 in the state.
