Friendswood opens with 2-1 win over Clear Falls

FRIENDSWOOD — The District 24-6A baseball season has begun and Friendswood opened with a 2-1 win over Clear Falls.

Friendswood pitcher Lael Lockhart didn't get a whole lot of offensive support, but he got just enough for the one-run victory.

Ryan Bertelsman was solid at the plate as he went 2-for-3, drove in one run and scored one run. He singled in the first inning and tripled in the third inning.

Friendswood closer Carson Kaufman put away the final three outs in the seventh frame to record the save.

The Mustangs took the lead in the third, scoring two runs on an RBI single by Carter Gwynne and an RBI triple by Bertelsman.

Friendswood is now 10-7 overall and 1-0 in league play.
