Lady Mustangs sweep district foes last week
FRIENDSWOOD — The Friendswood Lady Mustangs had a lot of fun last week picking up a 21-0 thrashing over Baytown Lee and a 12-7 win over Ball High.
The Lady 'Stangs belted 15 hits for the 21 run pounding over the Lady Ganders with Brittany Woods leading the way going 2-for-3 with two home runs while scoring three times and driving in six runs. Julianna Tinger also had a banner day at the plate going 3-for-3 with three runs scored and four RBIs including two doubles.
Friendswood scored three runs in the first, one run in the second, five in the third, and then blew it open with 12 runs in the fourth frame for the 21-0 shutout. The game was called after the 10-run mercy rule went into effect in the fifth frame.
Kaylee Barnes went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Olivia Jackson was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Julie Fersuson was 1-for-1 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Savanah Hartman had a pair of doubles to go 2-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBIs. Angela Fancett was 2-for-2 with two RBIs that also included a pair of doubles. Mary Gavin joined the doubles club going 1-for-2 with a run scored.
Friendswood 12 - Ball High 7
Friendswood collected a season-high 19 hits and scored 12 runs to knock off Ball High 12-7 as Angela Fancett was the leading hitter going 4-for-5 with one run scored and three RBIs while belting a roundtripper.
Friendswood scored four runs in the first, three runs in the second, and five runs in the third for a 12-0 lead before Ball High made a game of it by scoreing five in the bottom of the fifth and then one run in the sixth and seventh innings to come up short 12-7.
Julianna Tinger continued her hot hitting going 2-for-3 including a double and triple, one run scored and two RBIs.
Olivia Jackson was 1-for-3 with two runs scored and one double.
Brittany Woods has also been hot with the bat going 3-for-3 with one run scored and three RBIs.
Abbey Hayford was 2-for-3 with one run scored and one RBI. Sarah Markley was 2-for-2 with an RBI. Savannah Hartman was 1-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs.
