Friendswood routs Brazoswood 12-1


FRIENDSWOOD — The Friendswood Mustangs got a run-ruled District 24-6A over the Brazoswood Bucs.

The Mustangs trailed 1-0 going into the third inning, however the Mustangs took a 2-1 lead thanks to a Kevin Dupuis run-scoring single scoring Nick Dehoyos and Justin Waller, who singled earlier in the inning and raced home on the throw.

Friendswood scored six runs in the fourth inning thanks to four hits, a Brazoswood error and two walks.

The two key hits in the inning came from Lael Lockhart’s two-RBI double and Ryan Bertelsman’s run-scoring single.

The Mustangs scored their final four runs in the fifth inning.

With two outs, Friendswood got singles from Bertelsman for two RBIs and Jacob Garrett for one RBI.

Having big nights for the Mustangs were Waller (2-for-2, three runs), Lockhart (one hit, two runs, two RBIs), Bertelsman (two hits, two runs, three RBIs), Dupuis (2-for-3, one run, one RBI), Joseph Ehrlich (2-for-3, one run) and Trace Mertel (two runs)

Tyler Flatt pitched all five innings for Friendswood, striking out six and giving up two hits and no earned runs in the win.

Friendswood is now 7-2 in District 24-6A action.


Friendswood 6, Clear Falls 3

The Friendswood Mustangs continued their hot play of late with a win against the Clear Falls Knights

Friendswood outlasted Clear Falls after five lead changes, squeaking out a 6-3 win at Friendswood's Bobby Black Field.

The Mustangs took the lead in the third inning after getting a two-run double by Jerett Bell that scored Ryan Bertelsman and Kevin Dupuis.

Bell racked up two RBIs on two hits for Friendswood.

Jacob Crain picked up the win on the mound for the Mustangs. He pitched four shutout innings. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered four hits.
