Friendswood girls receive All-District honors

FRIENDSWOOD — There is an old saying that says, "It isn't how you start out that is important, but how you finish." Such was the case with the Friendswood Lady Mustangs this season when they began district 2-4 and then reeled off six straight wins before finally closing out the league race with a 9-5 mark.

Friendswood made the playoffs for the first time since moving up to Class 6A, plus they beat state powerhouse Brazoswood in the first round to get their first playoff win at the 6A level.

When the District 24-6A coaches met to name their All-District selections, despite the strong showing by the Lady Mustangs, only one player earned first-team honors which was freshman pitcher Haven Franks.

Named to the second-team All-District was at-large pick Hannah Carpenter, first baseman Kendall Cross, outfielder Emily Jackson, and shortstop Savannah Hartman.
