Lady Mustangs stay perfect in district

FRIENDSWOOD — The Friendswood Lady Mustangs led from start to finish against the Crosby Lady Cougars to post a 56-36 win to close out the first round of district play with a perfect 7-0 record.

After a solid win against Ball High prior to facing Crosby, Friendswood completed the first half of District 22-5A play (7-0) undefeated by taking down a pesky Crosby team.

The Lady Mustangs rallied from an early deficit in the first quarter to win it 9-8, and Friendswood then extended its advantage to 21-15 at the halftime break.

A combination of solid defense and Ashlyn Mason (13 points) leading Friendswood's charge in the third quarter by scoring eight of her 10 points aided the Lady Mustangs to win the quarter (21-10) to take a 42-25 lead into the final period.

Nicole Nash tallied 11 points, and Sami Page added 10 points and seven rebounds for the Lady Mustangs.

"I think these girls are learning what it takes to win, and they did some good things to make that happen," said Friendswood head coach Daron Scott. "We were ready against Crosby. Our girls continue to grow, continue to get better, and they're doing the little things that are making us successful."
