Lady Mustangs searching for first district win

FRIENDSWOOD — Friendswood errors in the seventh lead to 3-2 loss to the Clear Springs Lady Chargers in District 24-6A action.

The Lady Mustangs dropped their fourth straight league game without a victory.

Clear Springs scored first in the top of the first on a single, a bad hop error, a one-out single and a two-run triple giving the Lady Chargers a 2-0 lead.

In the third inning, Friendswood finally got on the board as Sophie Lawson got a leadoff walk, Savannah Hartman got an infield hit, and Emily Jackson laid down a perfect but to advance both runners to second and third.

Julianna Tinger lined a single to center to score Lawson and sending Hartman to third. Hartman then scored on a throwing error by the catcher to tie up the game 2-2.

The next two Friendswood batters went down on strikes to put out the fire.

Clear Springs used a couple of ill advised plays by the Friendswood defense to plate the go-ahead run making the score 3-2.

With one final at bats, Friendswood got a two-out double by Lawson to the centerfield wall. Hartman walked putting the tying and winning runs on base.

However, Jackson hit an easy ground out to close out any hope for the win.

Courtney Weber took the loss for the Lady Mustangs as she gave up five hits, two earned runs while striking out three.
