Friendswood dominates 24-4A golf tourney

FRIENDSWOOD — Friendswood's boys teams took first and second place while the girls team finished atop the leaderboard as district champions.

The No. 1 Friendswood boys team shot 623 while the No. 2 Friendswood boys team shot 691. No. 1 Dawson finished third (697) while No. 2 Dawson finished fourth (721).

Friendswood's Robert Todd shot a two-day total 146 to finish as the top medalist at Evergreen Pointe Golf Club. Todd opened up the tournament with a best round 71 and then shot 75 on the second day of competition. Friendswood teammate Bryce Dooley finished second by 11 strokes at 157. Daniel Bradley and Aron Hetsko each shot 160 to take the top four places.

Earning individual berths to regionals from 24-4A were the Friendswood 1 and 2 teams plus Pearland Dawson's Euan Wallace (163) and Texas City's Zach Hayley (164).

Emma Brackett led the Friendswood 1 girls to the team championship with her two-round total of 160. Teammates Alex Magid (176), Abbey Hayford (200), Victoria Hartman (202), and Abby Hendrick (204) also qualified for regionals.

Individual qualifiers for regionals included Friendswood's 2 Shelby Michael (203) and Pearland Dawson's Meghan Reid (252).

In the girl's standing, Dawson placed third (838) followed by Friendswood 2 (853), Ball high (943), Santa Fe (970), and Goose Creek Memorial (1,017).

The Region III-4A golf tournament will take place on Tuesday/Wednesday at River Ridge Golf Club in Sealy.
