Manvel thrashes Northside 71-20

MANVEL — Manvel has passed the toughest tests they will face this season and now it is just about staying focused each week, avoid injuries, and run the district table to close out the regular season at 10-0 and get ready for the post-season.

Playing in one of the weakest 5A districts in the state, the Mavericks won't really play any stiff competition until the playoffs.

The talented Mavs flexed their muscles over Northside 71-20 and the game was almost over before it ever started.

Manvel led 26-0 after the opening quarter and added 10 more points in the second period for a 36-0 lead at intermission.

Manvel outscored Northside 21-7 in the third quarter to stretch the lead to 57-7 entering the final frame.

The Mavs nipped Northside 14-13 in the fourth period to post the 71-20 final score.

Quarterback Tucker Yarbrough was 17-of-23 passing for 290 yards and four TD passes.

De'Monte Seymore had two carries for 59 yards and one score. Donavan Eaglin had three totes for 43 yards and a score. Isaih Jackson had 24 yards on three carries for two TDs.

Malachi McLean had four catches for 96 yards and one score. Rashad Dease had two catches for 35 yards and one TD.
