Manvel blows out Milby 77-0


MANVEL — Manvel picked up another lopsided district win with a 77-0 thrashing of the Milby Buffaloes to improve to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in district.

The Mavs scored early and often as they posted 35 points in the opening 12 minutes of the game. Manvel found just about every way to score on offense, special teams, and defense.

Ladarius Owens got things started with a 10-yard run for a 7-0 lead. The lead increase to 14-0 when QB Josh Coltrin hit Justin Valenzuela on a 20-yard scoring pass with 6:50 left in the first quarter.

The Maverick defense put the ball in the end zone 12 seconds later when Jermaine Brown pick up a Milby fumble and rumbled across the goal line making the score 21-0.

Less than two minutes later, Kameryn Alexander returned a Milby punt 40-yards for a score and 28-0 lead.

With :15 seconds left in the first quarter, the Mavs increased the lead to 35-0 when Eric Hebert scored on a 32-yard pass from Kameron Jackson.

Manvel continued their scoring spree in the second quarter as Owens got loose on a 52-yard scoring jaunt at the 11:01 mark.

Coltrin threw his second scoring pass to Roland Kimble covering 11-yards making the score 49-0.

Jude Mayon scored on a 52-yard punt return to make the halftime score 56-0.

Jalen Gibson opened the second half with a 91-yard kickoff return for a touchdown making the score 63-0.

Donovan Eaglin scored on a 3-yard run at the 2:59 mark for a 70-0 lead and Jalen Walthall capped off the game's scoring with an 18-yard run early in the final period.

Placekicker Luis Moreno was busy hitting 11-of-11 extra points for a 77-0 final score.

Coltrin was 7-of-8 passing for 79 yards and two TDs.

Owens had two carries for 62 yards and two scores.

Hebert had two catches for 61 yards and one TD.
