Manvel survives late Ball High rally 46-44

MANVEL — It looked like Manvel would run away with the game after jumping out to a 14-2 first quarter lead, but the Ball High Tors were not going to go down that easy as a fourth quarter rally gave Ball High a chance to pull out a last second win.

Ball High's Elijah Courtney hit a 3-pointer with only 9 seconds left to tie up the game at 44-44 erasing a 10-point Manvel lead.

Forced to foul, Manvel's A.J. McBride sank both pressure free throws to give the Mavs a 46-44 lead with just four seconds left on the clock.

Ball High's last attempt to hit a game-winning shot came up short giving the Mavs the close district win.

McBride was the top scorer for the Mavs with 25 points while Azari Woods tossed in 10 points.

Ball High outscored the Mavs 22-14 in the final period.
