Pearland 61 - Alief Hastings 21

The Pearland Lady Oilers thrashed Alief Hastings 61-21 in a District 23-6A contest improving Pearland to a 4-1 league mark.

De Yona Gaston led the first quarter charge with 11 points while Sydni Pinales added six more points for a total of 17 points while Hastings couldn't find the basket.

Pearland continued their scoring barrage as six different players scored in the second quarter for 13 points.

With :17 seconds left in the first half, the Lady Bears scored their first basket making the score 30-2 at intermission.

Gaston got hot again in the third quarter with four baskets as the Lady O's outscored the visitors 13-11 for a 43-13 lead heading into the final frame.

Pearland continued the onslaught 18-8 behind the scoring of Kyah Barlow who had five points in the fourth quarter making the final score 61-21.

Leading scorer for Pearland was Gaston who tossed in a game-high 23 points.

Takyra Grant led the way for Hastings with seven points.

Dawson Lady Eagles

Dawson 40 - Alief Taylor 32

The game between Dawson and Alief Taylor was fairly even throughout the entire game, but the difference in the outcome was a 9-2 lead by the Lady Eagles in the opening quarter.

Dawson took the second quarter 11-10 for a 20-12 halftime lead.

The second half was even as both teams battled to an 8-8 tie in the third and 12-12 tie in the final period leaving the Lady Eagles with an eight point district win 40-32.

Dawson is now 17-12 overall and 4-2 in league play.

George Ranch 64 - Dawson 52

The Dawson Lady Eagles had a slow start against the George Ranch Lady Longhorns and couldn't overcome the early deficit in a hard-fought District 23-6A contest.

George Ranch opened up the first quarter with a 12-2 run before Dawson closed the gap to 16-7 after the first eight minutes of action.

The two teams tied 13-13 in the second period leaving the Lady Horns with a 29-20 halftime lead.

George Ranch continued to build on their lead 17-15 in the third quarter for a 46-35 advantage entering the final frame.

The girls from Dawson never gave up taking the final quarter 19-16, but it was too little, too late as George Ranch held on for the 64-52 district win.

Dawson was led by Jalayah Ingram with 16 points while Olivia Johnson tossed in 12.

The Lady Eagles did hit 5-of-7 three-pointers while hitting 11-of-16 free throws.

The loss drops Dawson to 16-12 overall and 3-2 in district.

Friendswood Lady Mustangs

The Friendswood Lady Mustangs have completed the first round of district play with an unblemished 7-0 record. They will begin the second round against Baytown Lee. The Lady 'Stangs are 15-7 overall.

The Mustangs have posted league wins in the first round over Baytown Lee (57-28), Goose Creek Memorial (52-39), Texas City (49-33), Santa Fe (75-31), Galena Park (70-32), Ball High (47-42), and Crosby (75-36).
