Pearland Girls - Region III Basketball Champs


The Pearland Lady Oilers captured the Class 6A Region III crown and are advancing to the 6A state basketball tournament in San Antonio at the Alamodome on Friday, May 3.

The purpose-driven Lady Oilers beat the Summer Creek Lady Bulldogs 39-26 in the region finals after they throttled the Katy Lady Tigers 57-30 in the region semifinal contest.

The District 23-6A champions are now 35-3 on the season.

Pearland will face the DeSoto Lady Eagles (27-5) in the state semifinals on Friday, May 3 at 8:30 p.m.

DeSoto has appeared in the state tournament in 2008, 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023. The Lady Mustangs are going for a three-peat having won state in 2021 and 2022. [Photo by Dr David Davis]
