North Shore edges Pearland roundballers 55-52

The Oilers close out the season with a sparkling 30-4 record while capturing the District 22-6A crown under third-year head coach Delrick Brown who has done a masterful job with his hard-court warriors.
The opening quarter saw the Mustangs jump out to a 13-4 lead and it looked like they would run away with the game but the Oilers gathered themselves and went on an 8-0 run to close out the first period with North Shore holding on to a 13-12 lead.
The Oilers took the momentum into the second quarter and built a 30-22 advantage late in the frame until the Mustangs hit two late free throws to narrow the gap to 30-24 at intermission.
Pearland outscored North Shore 18-11 in the second quarter behind the balanced scoring attack of Tyylon Ennis (5 points), Byron Bibbs (4 points), Avin Glover (4 points), and Devan Brown (3 points).
When the second half started, it didn't take long for the Mustangs to eat up the six-point lead and out score the Oilers on 7-0 run to take the lead 31-30 early in the third quarter.
North Shore would take the lead and momentum to lead as much as seven points as they outscored the Oilers 19-11 for a 43-41 lead heading into the final period.
With less :11 seconds remaining in the game after the two teams continued to battle, the Oilers carved the North Shore margin to 53-51. The Mustangs were called for a foul on a 3-point shot allowing three free throws to tie the game.
Pearland went 2-for-3 at the line to trim the lead to 53-52 forcing the Oilers to foul.
North Shore's Christian Gibson, their leading scorer, got fouled and promptly sank both free throws for a 55-52 lead.
The Oilers had a chance to tie up the game in the final seconds but missed the mark giving the win to the Mustangs.
Brown led the Oilers offensive attack with 17 points while Ennin tossed in 13.
The Oilers were cold from 3-point land hitting only 3-of-15 (20%). The Oilers also were 9-of-16 from the free throw line (56%).
North Shore was led by Gibson who fired in 27 points including four 3-pointers and 11-of-14 from the charity stripe. Da'marcus Sloan added 15 points.
The Mustangs hit 15-of-19 from the free throw line (79%).
