Dawson, Manvel, Pearland girls named to All-District teams

PEARLAND — The 2014-15 basketball season has come to an end. The Dawson and Pearland girls both advanced to the playoffs after finishing the regular season tied for second in the District 22-6A title race. The Manvel Lady Mavericks were successful in defending their league crown with a 16-0 mark. The were the Class 5A defending state champions but lost late in the post-season.

It came as no surprise that Manvel's Jordan Hosey was named the District MVP after being named as a McDonald's All-American, which is one of the most prestigious honors that can be afforded a high school girl. Hosey was also named the District Defensive Player of the Year.

Pearland had two girls receive top honors as senior Jasmine Butler was named District Offensive Player of the Year and sophomore Emer Nichols was named District Newcomer of the Year.

Manvel head coach Bryan Harris was named District 22-6A Coach of the Year.

Named to the All-District first-team from Manvel included: senior Jordan Hosey and senior Ameiya Jackson.

First-team members from Pearland included: senior Jasmine Butler and sophomore Emer Nichols.

First-team members from Dawson included: junior Maddie Powers and junior Kat Darden.

The second-team featured: junior Lauren Taylor (Manvel), senior Adrana Sanders (Manvel), sophomore Cierra Lane (Pearland), and senior Kasi Matthews (Dawson).
