Adams tosses no-hitter at Alief Taylor in 10-0 win

PEARLAND — Pearland's Matt Adams stuck out 12 Alief Taylor hitters and didn't allow a hit as the Oilers blanked the Lions 10-0 in a District 23-6A contest.
The Oilers opened up the scoring with two runs in the top of the third inning and then broke the game open with eight runs in the sixth to give Adams a 10-0 lead and the no-hit gem.
Pearland's offense managed only five hits while committing five errors, but it was more than enough to give Adams all the support he needed.
Jace Lofty led Pearland going 2-fo-3 at the plate with one RBI and one run scored. Mason Lytle was 1-for-3 with one run scored and two RBIs.
Jacob Whitehead scored a run and an RBI on one hit while Matt Adams collected one hit and a pair of RBIs for Pearland.
The Oilers improved to 2-0 in district.

The Pearland Oilers won their district opener with a lopsided 20-0 win over Alief Elsik.
There was no question as to the outcome of this contest as the Oilers scored early and often with the game being halted after five innings due to the mercy rule.
The Oilers scored three times in the first inning, six runs in the second, and finished off the scoring with 11 runs in the third in the lopsided win.
Colby Casey picked up the win as he pitched four innings, allowed no runs, two hits, while striking out eight and walking three. Garrett Grothe pitched one frame allowing one single while striking out two with one walk.
Meanwhile, Pearland pounded out 12 hits with Chase Keasler leading the way going 3-for-3 at the plate. Keasler drove in runs on a single in the first, a single in the second, a passed ball in the third, and a single in the third for a total of six RBIs and two runs scored.
Matt Adams was 1-for-2 with one run scored and three RBIs. Parker DeLeon was 2-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Jacob Whitehead was 1-or-3 with three runs scored. Joseph Barfield was 1-for-2 with three runs scored and one RBI. Izayah Quezada was 1-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI. Ryan Weaver was 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Jerry Garcia was 1-for-1 with three runs scored and one RBI.
