Pearland thrashes two district opponents

PEARLAND — Robert Patrick earned the victory on the pitcher's mound for Pearland as the ace allowed no hits and no runs over one inning, striking out one and walking one. A number of pitchers entered the game as relief, with Rhett Bynum, Daniel Ontiveres, Jake Mader-Cooper, and Hunter Cook all securing outs and ultimately the victory.

The Oilers scored four runs in the opening frame and added three more runs in each of the second, third, and fourth innings for the 13-0 shutout against Alief Taylor.

Pearland racked up 11 hits as Ethan Staley (2-for-2, 2 runs, 1 RBI) and Isaac Garcia (2-for-2, 1 run, 3 RBIs), managed multiple hits for the Oilers. Garcia and Staley each managed two hits while Carter Allen (1-for-2, 2 runs, 2 RBIs) smacked a round-tripper in the second inning.

Pearland didn't commit a single error. Jace Caceres had the most chances in the field with six.

Pearland 18 - Alief Hastings 1

Pearland defeated Alief Hastings 18-1 thanks to 12 runs in the first inning. The big inning came from walks by Cain Landry, Caden Ferraro, Landry, Seth Davis, and Brett Smajstrla, singles by Anthony Avalos and Ethan Staley, a sac fly by Staley, by Davis, and an error on a ball put in play by Smajstrla.

Garrett Coiner was the winning pitcher as the fireballer lasted two innings, allowing one hit and no runs while striking out four and walking one. Isaac Garcia and Mark Zapata entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Pearland collected 13 hits on the day as Carter Allen (3-for-3, 4 runs), Staley (3-for-4, 3 RBIs), and Avalos (2-for-3, 2 runs, 1 RBI), each collected multiple hits.
