No. 9 state-ranked Pearland thrashes Shadow Creek 12-4, 16-1

The final week of the 2026 regular baseball season is approaching, and it looks like the Pearland Oilers will capture the District 22-6A crown.

Pearland is 22-8 overall and 13-1 in league play with two games to go against South Houston who is in last place in the district standings with a 1-13 record.

The Oilers will travel to face the Trojans on Tuesday, April 21 at 4:00 p.m. and then host the Trojans on Friday, April 24 at 6:00 p.m. to wrap up the title and the regular season.

Pearland has a comfortable district lead over second-place Dobie (11-3) who is the only team to get a win over the Oilers as they split their district games.

The last district games the Oilers played were against the Shadow Creek Sharks who they totally crushed 12-4 and 16-1.

Pearland faced Shadow Creek in their first district contest and came away with a solid 12-4 win.

The Oilers scored seven runs in the second inning to take an early 7-1 lead.

Leading the charge was Hayden Mireles who homered to left field and scored two runs. Brady Brewer doubled and scored two runs. Matteo Gross doubled and scored two runs, and Carson Webb doubled and scored one run.

Pearland added two runs in the bottom of the third, one run in the fourth, and two more in the fifth.

Shadow Creek scored a run in the top of the first, two in the fifth, and one in the seventh for their four runs.

Leading hitters for Pearland included Jordan "Jet" Hernandez (1-for-4, 2 runs), Jake Zurek (1-for-3, 2 runs), Brady Brewer (1-for-2, 1 run, 3 RBIs, 2B), Reid Landis (1-for-3, 1 RBI), Matteo Gross (1-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs, 2B), Carson Webb (1-for-3, 1 run, 1 RBI, 2B), Hayden Mireles (1-for-1, 1 run, 1 RBI, HR), H Golden (1-for-3, 1 RBI), and Ashton Arredondo (3-for-4, 2 runs, 1 RBI, 2B)

Brewer was the starting pitcher for Pearland as he allowed one hit and one run, while striking out three and walking two to get the win.

Chase Bucklew, Mitchell Araujo, Wylee Gapsiewicz, and Michael Cepeda each came on in relief for Pearland and shutdown Shadow Creek.

Pearland totally dismantled Shadow Creek in the second district contest between the two teams.

The Oilers erupted for 12 runs in the second inning on their way to a 16-1 pasting of the Sharks.

Carson Webb singled, scoring two runs, Hayden Mireles doubled, scoring one run, Jordan Hernandez drew a walk, scoring one run, Jake Zurek drew a walk, scoring one run, Brady Brewer drew a walk, scoring one run, Reid Landis drew a walk, scoring one run, Matteo Gross drew a walk, scoring one run, Christian Villarreal was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Oscar Medina singled, scoring two runs, and Ashton Arredondo doubled, scoring one run.

The Oilers opened up the game with two runs for a 2-0 lead and Shadow Creek scored one run in the bottom of the first and then the offensive explosion took place in the second frame for a 14-1 lead.

Pearland added a run in the fourth and fifth innings before the mercy rule ended the game.

Ashton Arredondo led the offensive charge for the Oilers as he hit a solo home run to center field in the fifth inning, doubled in the third inning, and singled in the second inning. He was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs including the home run and double.

Jackson Wolfe earned the win as he allowed one hit and one run over two innings, striking out none and walking three. Chase White, Wylee Gapsiewicz, and Ashton Arredondo each threw shutout innings for Pearland in relief.
