Lady O's close regular season with win over Dobie

PEARLAND — The Lady Oilers needed a strong showing in their final game of the regular season after suffering a 7-0 loss to Manvel. Head coach Laneigh Clark got a dominating effort over the Dobie Lady Longhorns 10-1 to get some momentum going for the post-season.

Pearland pounded out 12 hits for the 10 runs while sophomore pitcher Alyssa Denham re-grouped from her loss to Manvel to allow Dobie only four hits and one run while her teammates gave her all the support she needed to get the victory.

The Lady Oilers scored a run in the top of the first for a 1-0 lead, but Dobie answered in their half of the first to tie up the game 1-1. But that would be as close as Dobie would get as Pearland took control from there.

Pearland added three runs in the third, two in the fifth, and closed out the game with four runs in the top of the sixth for a 10-1 lead. Dobie couldn't answer and Pearland got the important win.

Lindsey Stewart was 3-for-4 with four runs scored and one RBI. Sydney McKay was 2-for-3 with one run scored and three RBIs. Rylie Spell had two RBIs. Kristen Cuyos was perfect at the plate going 3-for-3 with one run scored and two RBIs including a double. Ashlynn Walls was 3-for-3 with three runs scored.

Pearland will begin the playoffs against the Baytown Sterling Lady Rangers on Thursday, April 24 at Baytown Sterling HS at 7:00 p.m. in a best-of-three series. The two teams will face one another on Saturday, April 25 at 2:00 p.m. and on Monday, April 28 (if necessary) at 7:00 p.m. All games will be at Baytown Sterling HS.
