Spring football drills

PEARLAND — The Pearland Oilers began their spring football drills this week and are working toward the Oiler Spring Football Game on Thursday, May 16 at The Rig at 6:00 p.m.

Preparing for his last season in an Oiler uniform is quarterback J.D. Head who made a big impact for Pearland last season by leading them to a perfect 10-0 regular season and a District 23-6A championship. It also marked the first year for head coach Ricky Tullos.

Head set three Pearland records last year as he broke the Pearland single-game passing record of 314 yards, formerly held by All-State quarterback Trey Anderson, with 357 yards against Cinco Ranch; set a new single-season touchdown passing mark with 25 TD passes breaking the old record of 24 set by Anderson; and he tossed six touchdown passes against Cinco Ranch (2018) which set a new standard beating the previous mark of four touchdown passes in a single-game.

Head is positioned to have a great future beyond the high school ranks.
