Pearland Little League teams capture district and sectional titles


PEARLAND — The Pearland Little League baseball teams are having success again this year and the 12-year-olds hope to make another possible run to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA.

Pearland made the trip to the Little League World Series in 2010 and 2014. At the present time, the 12-year-olds are competing for another state title. Then, they will compete for the Southwest Championship that will send them to Williamsport.

The Pearland 11 year-olds are also competing in the state tournament after winning the District and Sectional titles.

The 11's beat Sagemont Beverly Hills (14-4), Houston East End (20-5) and Pearland West 12-1 and 11-6 for the district title.

In the sectionals, the 11's beat West U National (19-0), Texas City (16-0) and then lost to West U National (10-6) before turning around and beating West U National (19-5) for the championship.

So far at state, the 11's beat Port Neches 7-1 and lost to RC West 13-3.

The Pearland West 12's also won the District and Sectional championships.

In district, the 12's beat OFA (41-0), Pearland East (21-0), Sagemont (29-0), and Pearland East (8-1) for the District title.

In sectionals, the 12's beat the defending state champion Bayside (5-2), Northside National (10-0), and Northside National again (6-0) for the championship.

The 12's are making a bid for the state championship and so far they have beaten Lufkin (9-8) and Lamar (15-2).

On Tuesday night - the Pearland West 12's beat Lufkin for the Texas East State Championship.

Pearland West pitcher Isaac Garcia took 78 pitches, gave up only two hits in pitching a 1-0 shutout.

Pearland West got a solo home run by Jarrett Tadlock in the fourth inning for the 1-0 victory over Lufkin to capture the Texas East State Championship.
