Pearland rolls past Sam Rayburn 72-0

PEARLAND — The Pearland Oilers secured their place in the 2015 post-season for the 16th straight year after thrashing the Sam Rayburn Texans 72-0.

The Texans haven't won a game since September 21, 2013 when they beat Houston Northbrook 34-21. Since that time, they have lost 24 straight games including the game against the Oilers.

The Oilers are now 8-0 on the season and 6-0 in District 22-6A. They are tied atop the league leaderboard with Manvel in which those two teams will more than likely play for the district championship on Friday, November 6 at the Alvin Memorial Stadium at 7:00 p.m.

When the playoffs begin, Pearland will play in the the 6A Region III Div. I bracket and Manvel will compete in Div. II. Dawson should move on in the playoffs in the Div. II bracket while either Pasadena Dobie or Alvin will secure the No. 4 seed in the Div. I playoffs based on their head-to-head contest this week.
