Chapa commits to Abilene Christian

PEARLAND — Pearland's junior Libero, Amanda Chapa, has verbally committed to continue her education and playing career at Abilene Christian University.

Chapa was named to the All-District first-team last year after she had 403 digs and 63 aces.

"Amanda is the foundation in which we have built the 2014 team," head coach John Turner said. "Amanda is a composed leader that sets the example on the court with her high level of play. Amanda is the backbone of our defense and offense this past season. She is a work horse on and off the court."

She has been named to the 2014 Adidas All-Tournament Team; named Outstanding Defensive Player of the 2014 Spring Branch ISD Tournament. She was named to the District 22-5A All-District First team in 2013.

“I am ecstatic for Amanda and her family. Recruiting is a process that you have to be patient and wait for that right opportunity to come along. Amanda knew when she visited Abilene Christian University that this is the place she wanted to play her collegiate volleyball. We still have another year left having Amanda do great things for our high school program. I cannot wait to see what the future brings for her.”
