George Ranch edges Pearland 45-34

PEARLAND — The Pearland Oilers closed out the first round of District 23-6A action with a 45-34 loss to the George Ranch Longhorns to finish with a 4-3 mark to move into the second round.

Both offenses struggled in the first half as the Longhorns nipped the Oilers 8-5 and it got worse in the second quarter as George Ranch only managed three points while Pearland was only able to score two points leaving the 'Horns leading 11-7 at intermission.

The second half was entire the opposite as George Ranch outscored Pearland 22-15 in the third quarter for a 33-22 advantage entering the final eight minutes of action.

The teams battled back-and-forth ending up the fourth quarter tied at 12-12 resulting in a 45-34 win for the Longhorns.

The Oilers will host cross-town cousin Dawson on Friday, January 25 at 7:00 p.m. in a crucial district game.
