Pearland takes out Strake Jesuit 57-31


PEARLAND — The Pearland Oilers continued their outstanding season with a 57-31 district win over Strake Jesuit to improve their overall record to 24-1 and 5-0 in league action.

The opening quarter was close as the Oilers edged the Crusaders 13-10 after the first eight minutes of action.

However, Pearland's defense shut down Strake Jesuit in the second period while the offense got hot. The Oilers took the quarter 20-4 for a 33-14 advantage.

The defense continued to control the game as the Oilers extended their lead with a 16-4 third quarter and a 49-18 lead entering the final period.

With the reserve players getting playing time in the final quarter, the Crusaders took the final frame 13-8 leaving the Oilers with a dominating 57-31 district win.

Jordan Maxwell led the offense with 10 points while D'andre Boudreaux tossed in eight points with Robel Desta, Derrick Ardoin, and Chase Carothers each scoring seven points.
