Lady Oilers take out Brazoswood 61-40


PEARLAND — The Pearland Lady Oilers hosted the Brazoswood Lady Bucs and came away with a solid 61-40 district win to improve their overall record to 20-8 and 6-1 in league action.

Sophomore Macey Braswell continues to be the offensive leader as she fired in 26 points including three 3-pointers.

Braswell got strong support from Julia Gonzales who added 11 points while Ravae Payne and Jocelyn Thompson each added nine points.

Pearland opened up the first quarter 10-8 and increase their lead 17-8 in the second period for a 27-16 advantage at intermission.

Braswell really jump started the offense with 13 points in the second quarter.

The Lady Oilers had their highest offensive output in the third period as they outscored the Lady Bucs 21-12 as Gonzales got in on the scoring parade with eight points to give Pearland a 48-28 lead entering the final frame.

Pearland closed out the game 13-12 as Braswell added seven more points giving the Lady O's the 61-40 victory.

The Lady Oilers used an aggressive offense that drew multiple fouls sending the players to the charity stripe.

Pearland was 13-of-24 from the free throw line which needs some improvement as the regular season continues.
