PEARLAND — Pearland split their district games last week and continue to maintain second-place behind No. 2 state-ranked Manvel.
Head coach Donna Vacek has seen her girls improve during the season and she has no problem entering the playoffs as the No. 2 seed from District 22-5A.
"Manvel has a really talented team," Vacek recently said. "I think we will have a chance to move in the playoffs from the bracket opposite Manvel."
The Lady Oilers fell to Manvel last week 81-49. A cold first quarter giving Manvel an early 25-9 lead put Pearland way behind, but the Lady O's continued to play hard. The other three quarters saw Manvel outscore Pearland 56-43 which was a tribute to the Lady Oilers for continuing to battle against one of the best teams in the nation.
